You led me to the fall, the cliff just steps ahead,
my blind eyes depending on your guidance,
the drop unexpected, uninvited.
And as I felt for your reassuring hand on my arm,
your voice to whisper to me that this is okay, was meant to be,
there was only air.
I frantically stepped forward, my arms reaching for you,
and with that one step I began to fall.
The only whispers were from the wind as I fell through it,
the only screams were mine from the fear,
anticipating the ground which was soon to come.
When it did my broken body lay paralyzed.
My eyes opened for the first time since I met you,
and laying there, staring up at the heavens,
I could not see what lay ahead, what would come for me,
but only saw where I had come from and you,
at the top looking down at me.
